Captain Mike Murray

Hello, everyone!  I was born and raised in Gulfport, Florida, a small fishing town minutes from Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf of Mexico.

Ever since I can remember I have been fishing, whether for fifteen minutes before school or all day during summer vacation.  I grew up on the water and on my family’s boats.

In my teens I moved to Land O’Lakes, Florida, where I began to bass fish and compete in bass tournaments.  This type of fishing taught me patience on the water and the use of artificial lures.

After high school I moved to Tampa, Florida, where I attended college to become a Firefighter/Paramedic.  I have been a professional Firefighter/Paramedic since 1998 and am currently
assigned to Tampa Fire Rescues fire boat “The Patriot”, a 69 ft. Firestorm model.  My schedule at the fire department allows me to spend a lot of time on the water and keep up on where the fish are.

Along with charters, I also fish in tournaments.  I specialize in chasing redfish and fish in a monthly redfish tour.

With the Fire Department and charter fishing I feel like I have the best of both worlds.  I get to spend most of my time on boats and on the water.  Being outdoors and on the water is my life’s passion, and if you book a charter with me I hope I can make it yours too for the duration of our trip.  I know there are a lot of great guides here in the Tampa Bay area, and picking the one that’s right for you isn’t easy.
